Kids Special Carrot Coconut Curry - Indian Style

Carrot Coconut Curry


250 gram  carrots sliced

10- 15 Shallots/ small onion chopped

2 clove garlic chopped

1 tablespoon ginger root chopped.

11/2  tsp. turmeric

1.5 tsp. Garam masala

2 big  tomato chopped

250  ml  thick coconut milk

salt to taste


2 Sprig curry leaves

1 tsp  mustard seed

2 chopped green chillies(optional)


Method of Preparation

In small saucepan add the carrots, onions, garlic, ginger, turmeric, garam masala and tomato. Add enough water to cover the carrots and place on the heat.

Cook until the carrots are soft and almost cooked. Now add the coconut milk and bring back to the boil.

Simmer for a few minutes until the curry has thickened. Kept aside.

Heat the oil in pan and add mustard and, green Chilles , curry leaves.  Roast it for 2 minutes.

Garnish curry with roasted   mustard ,green chillies and curry leaves.

Serve with Rice and Picle
