Chilli Chicken With Green Chillies and Mint paste

Serves: 4

Cooking   Time: 45 Minutes


Chicken  - 1 Kg  cut in to  16 pieces

Onions  – 4 nos  Chopped

Green chillies   20 nos or as reqd Chopped

 Ginger  – 2 ½  tbsp Chopped

Garlic – 2  1/2 tbsp

Mint  leaf paste – 1 tbsp

Cilantro paste  - 1 tbsp

Oil – 1 – 2 tbsp

Salt – As reqd

Spice Mix for Grinding

Cinnamon  -  3 nos

Cloves  - 4 - 5 nos

Fenugreek seeds  - ¼ tsp ( Optional)

Coriander seeds – 1 tbsp

Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp

Fennel seeds -  1/2 tsp

Dried fenugreek powder(Kasuri methi) – 1 tbsp

Method of Preparation

Grind together all the spices into a fine powder/ Spice Mix.

Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.

Add onions and fry till it starts to turn brown.

Add the chicken pieces.

Add green chillies and cook till all the water content is nearly evaporated.

Add ginger and garlic and fry for a few mins.

When the chicken is nearly done, add the ground powder and salt and mix well.

Fry for another  five minutes.

Add mint and cilantro paste and fry for 3 minutes.

Add a little water and cook till most of the water is evaporated.

Garnish  with  roasted green chilies and Onions diced.
